Unique digital artwork is a relatively new idea that can incorporate generative interactive features. This allows for limitless artistic creativity.
WE’RE NOW SEEING DIGITAL ONE-OFFS THAT ARE AS CHERISHED AS ANY PAINTING OR SCULPTURE. HOWEVER, TO FULLY REALISE THE ARTIST’S VISION THEY REQUIRE EXPERT KNOWLEDGE OF THE HARDWARE REQUIRED AND AN EYE FOR HOW THEY CAN BE INSTALLED IN HARMONY WITH THEIR SURROUNDINGS.
THAT’S WHERE WE COME IN.
The client had purchased two pieces of digital artwork from teamLab through Pace Galleries but needed expert help with the installation.
This art is designed to be hosted on Apple Mac Minis and displayed on a large wide video wall configured across multiple displays.
As a partner company to Arcstream Systems Ltd, who regularly create amazing immersive digital experiences for the events sector, we were able to call on experience from our colleagues in their LED displays department to specify, install and configure the hardware used.
teamLab’s pieces are designed to be used in an always-on, one artwork piece per set of screens scenario. However, our client had purchased two pieces – and wanted them to be presented on the same set of displays.
This meant our expertise with home automation was required to provide him with a simple way of swapping between the two pieces and turning the system off when not needed.
Our answer was to deploy a Control4 system with custom source icons to match the artwork, which allowed easy swapping between the two pieces, or to switch them off, with the touch of a button on the Control4 app.
To ensure long-term reliable operation of the system, we supplied and installed IP controlled power switching units, a managed data switch, and OvrC enabled remote monitoring hardware.
