LUXURY RENOVATION

BACK TO BRICKS RENOVATION

LONDON

Loop recently played a big part in a full back-to-bricks renovation for a house in London for a client who wanted a fully integrated home automation system to include control of Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC), security, lighting & shades, as well as multi-room AV, and a home cinema.

THE CLIENT TRAVELS REGULARLY AND TRUSTED US TO DEVELOP THE PROJECT ALONGSIDE HIS INTERIOR DESIGNER AND ARCHITECT WITH ONLY OCCASIONAL MEETINGS TO REFINE THE SCOPE.

Building Management System
The property is a large, detached, four-storey house with an extensive garden. The renovation included complete replacement of wiring and plumbing so a large plant room was specified that was equipped with an advanced BMS controlled by an easy-to-use Control4 system, which we specified and integrated.

Lighting & Shade
With so much effort put into choosing the right lighting to complement the interior design, we selected a Lutron Homeworks QSX system, incorporating the latest Alisse keypads, for the appropriate level of reliability, and extensive tuneable features to allow for the residents to enhance the environment according to their mood or required aesthetic.

The Alisse keypads were a particular draw for the client, offering a combination of classic design and modern keypad features. Lutron shades and curtain tracks integrate seamlessly, allowing for control from the same keypads as the lighting, keeping wall-mounted controls to a minimum.

Home Cinema
With a house full of movie and sports fans, a home cinema was an obvious choice. We applied our years of experience to design a high-performance cinema and worked closely with the interior designer to ensure it integrated with the rest of the aesthetics. A 163” screen and Sony laser projector, combined with a Wisdom Audio Dolby Atmos speaker system, are a sensory delight, all brought together by a Control4 handheld control.

Integrated AV
A special touch was invisible speakers for music in reception areas and the Master Suite. These Sonance speakers are completely imperceptible once installed, filling a room with great quality music without the aesthetic impact of traditional drivers. Then there’s a video distribution system allowing the Sky boxes, Apple TVs and other sources to be located away from the TVs, keeping the installation of the Samsung Frame TVs neat and tidy.

Connectivity
The client wanted the best possible internet service and to be able to benefit from it on their mobile devices throughout the property.

We found that there were no ultra-fast residential service options, so we proposed a leased line business service and managed the installation with the service provider and OpenReach. With a guaranteed bandwidth of 1Gbps up and down, we selected a Ruckus system using the latest Wifi 6 technology and strategically located access points throughout the property to ensure great coverage. This also includes the garden and summer house, where we installed external grade access points.

Security
The property was also provided with an access control system which allows the client to manage who has access to the grounds and the house separately, via codes and mobile phone access. A CCTV system covers the entire site and includes features to determine how the house reacts to specific visitors.

Art
Additionally, we integrated some of the client’s artwork into the central control system in such a way that media playback and lighting effects which enhanced the aesthetics of the environment could be activated as desired.
